Job description

UNIVERSAL Technologies, LLC is seeking one (1) Senior Data Analyst with Data Modeling for a hybrid role in Brooklyn, NY with expertise to work with Information Technology (IT). Active LinkedIn preferred. The Senior Data Analyst with Data Modeling expertise will primarily be responsible for detailed field-level analysis, metadata analysis and profiling of internal and external sources as well as creation of conceptual, logical physical, and dimensional data models as part of UNIVERSAL s ongoing process improvement programs., * Participate in identifying, inventorying, and classifying critical enterprise data assets.

  • Partner with business subject matter experts to define and document data quality standards, business definitions, and validation rules.
  • Perform detailed field-level analysis, metadata analysis, and data profiling across internal and external data sources.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional data models.
  • Develop and maintain Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documentation for data migration initiatives.
  • Extract business logic and transformation rules from legacy COBOL applications.
  • Translate business rules and data quality requirements into ETL and SQL technical specifications.
  • Design and develop complex SQL validation scripts to verify migrated and transformed data.
  • Support enterprise data conversion, migration, cleansing, and validation activities.
  • Optimize and performance tune existing ETL workflows and SQL processes.
  • Provide technical support for enterprise data integrity and data quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Partner with IT teams to remediate identified data issues through manual and automated solutions.
  • Support proactive processes that detect, prevent, and correct invalid or inconsistent data.
  • Analyze and resolve data defects while supporting ongoing problem management activities.
  • Contribute to enterprise process improvement initiatives by improving data governance, quality, and consistency.
  • Work closely with technical leads, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Prior experience supporting a public pension system, preferably within New York State or New York City.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing source-to-target data mapping within mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience developing ETL solutions using IBM DataStage.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience supporting Pension Administration systems.
  • Experience creating comprehensive data dictionaries including business terms, valid values, and data definitions.
  • Experience converting and migrating VSAM data into relational and dimensional SQL databases.
  • Experience extracting field references, calculations, and business rules from COBOL applications.
  • Experience with BMC Control-M workload automation.
  • Experience using Git version control.
  • Strong SQL development experience including complex queries, stored procedures, and data validation.
  • Experience developing reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience working with SQL Server databases.
  • Experience with Data Quality and Data Profiling tools.
  • Experience supporting Data Warehouse and Data Mart environments.
  • Strong understanding of conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of ETL architecture and data structures.
  • Ability to develop complex SQL data validations based on Source-to-Target Mapping (STTM) documentation and target data models.
  • Experience extracting and documenting business rules from legacy applications.
  • Experience working across IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server environments.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and requirements analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
