Job description

EBAD is seeking a Capture Engineer with experience in the aerospace & defense industry. The Capture Engineer will be responsible for working with the Business Development, New Business Capture, and Development Engineering teams to perform concept design, modeling, and prototyping of energetic and non-energetic components and systems, ensuring the new product designs meet the customer needs. This position reports directly to the Engineering Technology Manager. This job can be located in either Simsbury, CT or Moorpark, CA., + Partner with business segment leadership to proactively develop winning engineering solutions

  • Prepare programs for success in development and manufacturing by understanding customer need, communicating EBAD capability, and identifying sound solutions for the broader EBAD team to execute on programs of record

  • Assess design feasibility using quantitative methods (e.g. hand calculations, instrumented test, or FEA)

  • Understand assigned market segment business strategy and independently act in support of that strategy

  • Lead business capture efforts as the technical point of contact with the customer and internally

  • Create 3D conceptual models and renderings

  • Integrate EBAD products into customer system level designs

  • Develop and implement creative design solutions that solve customer problems

  • Plan and execute rapid prototype builds and conceptual tests

  • Perform design trade studies and requirement and risk assessments to ensure design

  • Estimate and manage costs for assigned internally funded R&D, proposal and development activities

  • Identify, propose, and execute internally funded R&D projects to meet market needs in partnership with the business development team

  • Create and maintain product specifications and compliance verification for capture and IR&D projects

Requirements

  • The successful candidate must hold a BS (MS/MEng Preferred) in an engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience developing aerospace and defense products

  • Experience leading technical teams

  • Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal management

  • Commitment to safety

  • Ability to make sound judgement calls in order to proceed with minimal requirements and guidance from customers and stakeholders

  • Proficiency with solid modelling (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Ability to interpret and analyze technical specifications

  • Ability to obtain a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance

  • Status as a U.S. Citizen capable of working on U.S. DoD and ITAR restricted products

  • Knowledge of explosive materials and energetic devices

Benefits & conditions

Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
