GIS + Environmental Service Technician

Build and maintain ArcGIS Field Maps workflows for species surveys, exotic treatment tracking, and monitoring plots

• Produce maps, exhibits, and figures in ArcGIS Pro for permits, monitoring reports, and client deliverables
• Manage geodatabases, symbology, and project structure; QA/QC field data before it hits a report
• Migrate and maintain legacy ArcMap projects and archived data
• GPS/GNSS collection and post-processing; ArcGIS Online content and sharing

Field

• Wetland assessments, jurisdictional flagging, UMAM support
• Protected species surveys and relocation
• Exotic vegetation mapping and treatment tracking
• Restoration and time-zero/annual monitoring
• Lake and water quality monitoring
• Photo documentation and notes clear enough to write a report from

Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record Must be able to carry 25 pound herbicide backpack Knowledge of Southwest Florida Flora and fauna Must be comfortable in multiple outdoor environments (i.e. swamps, beach dunes, pine flatwoods ecosystems) Must be comfortable to work along lake shorelines and from small boat Must be comfortable with the use of EPA approved Herbicides Must be able to carry and apply EPA approved herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides in accordance with law and label Must be willing to learn and gain knowledge of Southwest Florida Flora and fauna Must be comfortable in multiple outdoor environments (i.e. swamps, beach dunes, pine flatwoods ecosystems) Must be comfortable to work along lake shorelines and from small boat Very rare, Overnight travel of 2 days or less may be required on a project by project basis.

Work Environment: This position will require a mix of office time and duties performed outside. You will be on your feet a lot walking, using 4X4’s, ATV’s, Tractors, swamp buggies, small boats, and other modes of transport to move through uneven terrain, wetlands, beaches, mangroves, and other types of challenging natural environments.

Typical work week is Tuesday through Thursday, and/or Friday/Saturday, times vary.

Natives of Corkscrew is a native plant nursery and turn-key environmental services company: wetland assessments, protected species surveys and relocation, exotic vegetation removal, preserve restoration, lake monitoring, and landscape design and installation. Our nursery grows the trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and grasses that go into that work.

We started as a paper-napkin idea before 2015 and have grown to 20 people through patience and hard work. We’d rather grow slowly than get rushed with customers or quick on projects. Zero arrogance, people over plants, and if it isn’t right we fix it.
