Job description

Under the direction of the NEOnet Executive Director, the Senior Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for the delivery of technical support services to educational entities associated with the NEOnet consortium. This job has a FLSA status of Non-Exempt., 1. Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in a school setting.

  1. Installs, repairs and replaces LAN/WAN hardware/software and related peripheral equipment.
  2. Responds to work orders, resolves computer equipment malfunctions, prepares and maintains daily record of work orders, assists in maintaining inventory of computer hardware/software and provides inventory information on new equipment installation and changes in equipment status.
  3. Recognizes problems with computer hardware/software, using troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools.

  4. Provides technical support and assistance as needed to fellow computer repair technicians.
  5. Disassembles computer and related equipment for installation, upgrade and replacement of parts.

  6. Maintain desktops, PC’s, Chromebooks and other electronic devices.
  7. Provide technical support for software and hardware issues.
  8. Maintain an understanding of computer peripherals and AV equipment.
  9. Must possess good organizational skills and be able to prioritize.
  10. Oversee the training and development of desktop support technicians.
  11. Assist the Technology Coordinator and the District Technology Services Coordinator with the advancement of the service.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the NEOnet Executive Director.

Requirements

  1. Ability to read and understand software documentation, to develop instructional materials as needed, to conduct training programs in the use of software applications.
  2. Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with many individuals of varying backgrounds and to handle information professionally and confidentially.
  3. Ability to organize tasks into a logical and purposeful sequence.
  4. Familiarity with various computer systems and ability to use associated computer equipment.
  5. Ability to communicate with other employees and train others in the use of computer equipment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to use software tools to perform needed tasks. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   4. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  5. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may occasionally be expected to move and/or lift 100 pounds or move but may obtain assistance or use equipment and carts to facilitate these tasks. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving, mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
