System Engineer

The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division is seeking experienced Systems Engineers to support the development and integration of advanced weapon and mission systems for U.S. Navy platforms.

In this role, you will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop requirements, integrate complex systems, support mission-critical capabilities, and contribute to the modernization of Navy combat and defense technologies across air, land, and maritime environments.

This position offers the opportunity to support real-world defense applications involving systems integration, weapons technologies, command and control capabilities, and advanced engineering solutions used by the Fleet.

What You’ll Do

• Support the development and integration of advanced weapon and mission systems
• Develop and decompose system requirements for complex engineering systems integrated across air, land, and sea platforms
• Apply systems engineering best practices throughout system design, integration, testing, and implementation efforts
• Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools to support system development activities
• Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, configuration managers, trainers, and safety personnel across integrated product teams
• Participate in technical reviews, working groups, certification efforts, and engineering discussions
• Assess operational performance and provide recommendations for system improvements
• Communicate technical plans, engineering progress, and performance results both verbally and in writing
• Interface with government, military, and contractor personnel to support mission execution and technical coordination

Do you have experience in Writing skills?, * Experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, or related engineering disciplines

• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler
• Knowledge of weapon systems, command and control systems, or complex integrated platforms
• Ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly evolving test or operational environments
• Strong troubleshooting, coordination, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across technical teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, * U.S. Citizenship required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or related STEM field
• Experience supporting systems engineering, integration, testing, software, or technical program efforts
