Job description

  • Scope and build working AI prototypes - LLMs, RAG, agentic automation, and integrations - that solve concrete origination problems.
  • Engage directly with clients: run workshops, gather requirements, demo, and iteratively refine solutions against the real workflows of regulated banks.
  • Define and manage AI use cases, structuring them functionally so they can scale beyond a single client.
  • Work closely within your team to turn validated prototypes into production features.
  • Own delivery timelines and communicate progress clearly to both clients and internal stakeholders.

Work AI-native

Building agentic software is the job, and we expect you to build the way you ship: AI-first.

  • Write code AI-first: agents produce the bulk of your code under your direction, while you own the architecture, integrations, review, and quality. We measure your output in shipped value, not hand-typed lines.
  • Build agentic workflows that do real work: scaffolding prototypes and integrations from a spec, generating and running tests, drafting evaluation harnesses, and reviewing diffs.
  • Use modern AI tooling as the default way you build, configure, and debug, not as an occasional helper.
  • Aim for a delivery cadence a non-AI-native engineer simply cannot match, and help us raise the bar on what an AI-native delivery function looks like at Oper.

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in software development, with hands-on AI/LLM work.
  • Strong with Python and modern AI tooling: LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks, orchestration, and evaluation.
  • Able to structure projects functionally and own delivery end-to-end, from scoping to shipped feature.
  • Comfortable being client-facing: running workshops, gathering requirements, and translating ambiguity into working software.
  • Comfortable working with flexible and loosely defined requirements, bringing your own structure where needed.
  • Genuinely AI-native: agents already write most of your code and you build agentic workflows to multiply your output. You can name the tools, the workflows, and the concrete recent projects where AI gave you real leverage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Creative and analytical mindset.
  • Ambition to learn, experiment, and grow while staying humble and open-minded.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g. Dutch, German) are a plus.
  • Experience in a relevant industry (financial services) and thriving in a scale-up environment are a plus.

This is an applied, client-facing, cross-functional role. We are not looking for researchers, “idea people,” or internal-only engineers.
