Software Architect

We’re working with a SaaS company based in Ghent, building a platform focused on renewable and sustainable mobility, is looking for a Software Architect to help shape the technical direction of its product as it scales. The company works at the intersection of mobility and sustainability, and is looking for someone who can bring both deep technical expertise and genuine architectural judgement to a growing engineering organisation.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants real influence over how the platform is built - not just a title, but genuine ownership of key technical decisions as the product and team grow.

What You’ll Do

• Own and evolve the architecture of the platform, with Golang as the primary language across core services.
• Make and guide key technical decisions around scalability, reliability, and system design as usage and complexity grow.
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure new features are built on solid architectural foundations, not just shipped quickly.
• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and structural weaknesses before they become real problems.
• Mentor and support other engineers, helping raise the technical bar across the team through code review, design discussions, and hands-on guidance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to balance long-term architectural health with short-term delivery needs.

6 months experience Bachelor (3 years) English, * Strong, proven experience with Golang, ideally in the context of building and scaling backend services or distributed systems.

• Solid experience in a Software Architect, Staff Engineer, or similarly senior technical role.
• A track record of making sound architectural decisions in real production systems, not just in theory.
• Comfortable balancing pragmatism with long-term technical vision - someone who knows when to simplify and when complexity is genuinely warranted.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• A genuine interest in sustainable mobility and the role technology plays in that space.
