Principal Software Engineer

Soleo Health is seeking a Principal Software Engineer in Frisco, TX or St. Louis, MO to lead the design, development, and architecture of scalable cloud-native software solutions across web, mobile, and backend platforms while driving technical strategy, engineering excellence, and adoption of modern AI-assisted development practices. This role serves as a senior technical leader responsible for end-to-end product development, cloud-native application architecture, and engineering execution utilizing TypeScript across application layers and the Azure Cloud platform.

The Principal Software Engineer partners closely with engineering leadership to drive technical strategy, system architecture, and adoption of modern software engineering practices, including AI-accelerated development tools and workflows. This individual remains highly hands-on in software implementation while also contributing to project planning, architectural decision-making, code quality standards, mentoring, and technical leadership across engineering teams.

This role is expected to lead complex initiatives, support engineering best practices, improve development efficiency, and drive scalable, sustainable software solutions through strong technical expertise, collaboration, and innovation. Responsibilities include:

• Design, implement, and maintain full stack web, mobile, and backend applications using TypeScript
• Contribute production quality code across frontend, mobile (native or cross-platform), backend, and shared libraries
• Build scalable backend services and APIs supporting both web and mobile clients
• Build integrations with SaaS products
• Own and drive system architecture, including application structure, integration patterns, data flows, cloud design decisions, and scalable AI-assisted engineering workflows
• Lead and actively participate in technical design and architecture reviews, ensuring solutions meet scalability, security, and maintainability requirements
• Play a critical role in project planning, including technical scoping, estimation, sequencing of work, and identifying dependencies and risks
• Partner with product management and engineering leadership to shape delivery plans and technical roadmaps
• Lead implementation of complex initiatives spanning mobile, frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure leveraging modern AI-assisted development techniques to improve execution speed and quality
• Collaborate with external partners to support strategic initiatives, operational execution, and business objectives.
• Perform thorough code reviews across all layers to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to engineering standards
• Build, operate, and optimize cloud native services on Microsoft Azure
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across mobile, web, and backend systems
• Mentor junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands on coaching
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and QA teams throughout the full delivery lifecycle
• Champion modern AI-assisted and agentic software development practices across the engineering organization
• Leverage tools such as Claude Code and related coding agents to accelerate implementation, debugging, testing, architecture exploration, and documentation workflows
• Establish practical patterns, guardrails, and engineering standards for effective use of AI-assisted development tooling
• Mentor engineers on high-leverage usage of AI tooling while maintaining strong engineering rigor and code quality
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering workflows and improve overall developer productivity

Do you have experience in Web applications?, * 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong hands on coding focus

• Expertise in TypeScript across frontend, backend, and shared application layers
• Strong experience building modern web applications using React, Angular, or similar frameworks
• Strong experience building or maintaining mobile applications, including:
• Native iOS and/or Android development or
• Cross platform frameworks such as React Native, Ionic, or similar
• Proven experience in designing and implementing backend services and APIs (Node.js preferred)
• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-native application development:
• Containerized workloads, application services, cloud functions
• Kubernetes
• Cloud-native data services
• Monitoring, logging, and security tooling
• Strong understanding of cloud native architecture, distributed systems, and performance optimization
• Demonstrated hands-on experience using agentic AI development tooling (e.g., Claude Code, coding agents, AI-assisted engineering systems) as a core part of day-to-day software development
• Proven ability to leverage AI-assisted development workflows to materially improve engineering throughput, implementation speed, debugging efficiency, and technical execution quality
• Experience mentoring or enabling engineering teams in effective adoption of AI-assisted development practices
• Experience serving as a senior technical leader responsible for influencing architecture, engineering standards, and delivery practices across teams
• Ability to clearly communicate technical decisions and mentor engineers at varying experience levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering products with shared ownership across web and mobile platforms
• Experience designing APIs and schemas optimized for both mobile and web consumption
• CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure as code experience (Bicep, ARM, Terraform)
• Background working in complex or enterprise scale environments
• Experience operationalizing AI-assisted software development practices within engineering organizations
• Experience evaluating and integrating emerging AI engineering tooling into real-world development workflows
• Experience leading highly technical engineering teams in fast-moving product environments
