Job description
Responsible for placing at least 6-8 UPO WFI graduates in full and/or part-time positions per month. Conduct employment-related workshops in groups and individualized settings to matching customerās interests and skills to employment. Participate in planning job fairs for UPO customers, including recruiting 8- 10 employers, assisting other staff with the job fair set-up and event facilitation. Coordinate the āEmployers Showcaseā events to honor employers that work with UPO customers. Locate and join local workforce and job coalition partnerships and attend relevant meetings. Collaborate with other job developers in the UPO system, for employment leads and employer-engagement strategies.: Establish progressive partnerships with employers in the District of Columbia in Order to develop job placements for UPO customers. Design and implement employer engagement initiatives which include marketing, solicitation and door-to-door recruitment to cultivate and maintain employer partners. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Assess each customer addressing the barriers to self-sufļ¬ciency and employment including personal and ļ¬nancial issues, emotional and physical issues, career decision making and planning issues, etc. Develop job search plans in collaboration with customers and based on information identiļ¬ed in the assessment which captures those goals of each customer. Facilitates the referral process based on the identiļ¬ed needs of customers including emergency assistance requests, support services such as mental health, substance abuse recovery, parting/life skills training, career/job readiness training, ļ¬nancial literacy counseling, employment placement and as well as external referrals to outside services providers. Monitor the progress of customers on assigned caseload and maintains bi-weekly contact with customers via case management session, telephone contact, and training group sessions. Completes case progress notes and updates client ļ¬les accordingly. Follow up with customers on the ācase rosterā on a bi-weekly basis; initiates various levels of outreach including phone calls, letters, and email correspondence to maintain customerās contacts and linkage with UPO. Maintains customer case notes and case ļ¬les to document case management process and outreach efforts. Participate in Community Outreach throughout various DC wards to expand client base and promote UPO WFI services, as well as attend special events in the DC metropolitan area to further promote the agency and recruit clientele
Requirements
Do you have experience in Working with individuals from underserved communities?, Do you have a Masterās degree?, * Proven ability to place 6-8 candidates monthly into full- and part-time roles
- Skilled in aligning participant skills, interests, and career goals with employer needs
- Strong understanding of workforce programs, job readiness, and placement strategies
- Ability to motivate, coach, and build trust with diverse populations
- Manage multiple responsibilities including placements, workshops, and employer outreach
- Ensure services meet program targets and performance metrics, Bachelorās degree in business, marketing, vocational counseling, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience, or 7-10 years of experience in employment programs and job development. Proven track record in employment placement for the underserved. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs and electronic time keeping programs. Possess effective organizational and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work some evenings and weekends. Computer literate including MS Office and data management systems., Bilingual/Spanish; Masterās degree in business, marketing, vocational counseling or a related field.
