Job description

Queens Community House is seeking a Learn and Earn Job Developer to join our team at Epic North High School. This school-based role is integral to our mission of empowering young people by connecting them with meaningful work-based learning opportunities and preparing them for success in the workforce.

The Learn and Earn Job Developer will play a key role in supporting students’ career development by building partnerships with employers, coordinating internships and employment opportunities, and helping students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed professionally. This position works closely with students, school staff, and community partners to create pathways toward employment, education, and long-term career success., Employer Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and organizations to secure job placements, internships, and mentorship opportunities for students.
  • Identify industries and employment opportunities that align with students’ skills, interests, and career goals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between employers and the school to ensure clear communication and mutual expectations.
  • With guidance from the Program Director, recruit:
  • 35 WIOA-eligible juniors
  • 35 WIOA-eligible seniors

Student Job Preparation

  • Facilitate workshops focused on:
  • Resume writing
  • Interview preparation
  • Workplace etiquette and professionalism
  • Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions to help students identify career interests and pathways.
  • Support students with:
  • Job applications
  • Interview preparation
  • Workplace readiness and navigation

Program Implementation

  • Organize job fairs, career panels, and networking events to expose students to a variety of career opportunities.
  • Coordinate summer employment and year-round internship opportunities for approximately 70 students participating in the Learn and Earn program.
  • Track student participation and outcomes using DYCD Connect and Salesforce to ensure compliance with program goals and funding requirements.

Alumni Follow-Up Services

  • Conduct follow-up services for 35 program alumni annually for 12 months post-graduation.
  • Maintain regular communication with alumni to monitor progress in employment, education, and training.
  • Provide ongoing support through:
  • Job leads
  • Career counseling
  • Referral services, * Work closely with guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators to promote career readiness within the school community.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to support students in balancing employment opportunities with academic responsibilities.
  • Provide feedback to school leadership regarding workforce trends and student employment needs.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of:
  • Student placements
  • Employer partnerships
  • Timesheets
  • Program outcomes
  • Prepare reports for program coordinators and stakeholders highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure all program activities comply with standards established by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support program goals and objectives.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Workshop facilitation?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Other degrees and equivalent experience will be considered.

  • One to three years of experience in job development, vocational counseling, workforce development, or working with young adults ages 17-24 required.
  • Experience developing employment opportunities for low-skilled job seekers strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, school staff, employers, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management systems such as Salesforce preferred.
