Job description

Join a dynamic team as an Information Security/Privacy Analyst I, supporting the FDA in safeguarding critical information. This hybrid contract role involves analyzing and responding to security events using SIEM, Firewall, IDS, IPS, Endpoint Security, and Network Access Control systems. You will play a vital role in identifying threats, investigating incidents, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or security professionals to grow their skills within a mission-driven environment, supporting public health initiatives., * Monitoring and responding to security alerts from various security tools and systems

  • Conducting log analysis and troubleshooting security incidents
  • Communicating complex technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Participating in shift rotations and contributing to a secure operational environment
  • Collaborating with team members to improve security posture and incident response procedures, This role is on-site in Rockville, MD, with work shifts potentially aligning to second or third shift schedules. Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in security operations centers (SOC) or recent college graduate with industry certifications
  • Experience working with Windows, Linux, or UNIX operating systems
  • Proficiency with SIEM tools such as Splunk or similar platforms

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of security protocols, network services (FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, DAP), and packet analysis tools

Preferred certifications include: CSIS, CEH, GCIH, CISSP, GPEN, and others. Additional skills in IDS log analysis, packet capture, and familiarity with security tools are a plus.
