Job description
The UK Reproducibility Network (UKRN) is a national collaboration comprising grassroots research networks, institutions themselves, and stakeholders across the wider research system. Our purpose is to improve the rigour and transparency of UK research, and thereby to strengthen its trustworthiness.
The UKRN Executive exists to enable the UKRN community to collaborate according to UKRN’s Terms of Reference. This is a transitionary year for the UKRN Executive team, as UKRN moves into a new sustainable funding model.
The purpose of this role is to provide the UKRN Executive with a coherent, efficient, sustainable and compliant operational systems and data infrastructure.
Hybrid working is available and is to be agreed upon offer of employment.
What will you be doing?
You will analyse UKRN’s current systems and processes to identify and prioritise processes that would benefit from improvements/automation, propose novel solutions and write code to drive continuous improvement.
You will set up new data-related activities, using appropriate tools (likely based on Microsoft), including the production of letters, defining requirements and agreeing timelines for key tasks.
You will liaise with team members to design solutions to common problems, taking the existing infrastructure and the needs and infrastructure of related entities such as the new UKRN Services trading company into consideration.
You will support UKRN staff and members with the use of data collection systems and with access to complex data types.
Requirements
- You have proven software development and programming skills, including writing well-structured code and relational database expertise, ideally though not necessarily within a Microsoft environment.
- You have excellent organisational skills, able to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload effectively
- You have experience of working on a project through its full development lifecycle
- You have excellent technical writing skills with application to user guides and technical documentation
- You have an understanding of the issues surrounding data collection, integrity and documentation
