Job description

Post Details : The State Hospital is the only provider of Forensic Mental Health Care in Scotland. We employ around 700 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver forensic mental health care to residential patients. The eHealth department at The State Hospital is seeking an Infrastructure Analyst to join the existing Infrastructure Team.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday

To provide the hospital with an excellent customer based first- & second-line support service through the IM&T department help desk for IT hardware, software faults, enquiries, general help and advice.

The main tasks / responsibilities are shown below. This list is not exhaustive.

  • Installation of IT equipment across the site
  • Scheduling / building and delivering requested equipment
  • Managing IT Helpdesk tickets
  • Updating systems with all relevant information
  • Prioritise and managing workloads
  • Assisting end users with IT issues.

The role will require the candidate to work in a highly secure environment and will require some manual labour.

Requirements

Experience: Relevant experience of IM&T systems and hardware support

Experience of a variety of Microsoft systems, applications and computer hardware is essential as is a familiarity of LAN networking and protocols such as TCP/IP.

  • PC hardware upgrades and maintenance
  • PC Windows operating systems installation, maintenance and upgrades
  • Working in an IT support function
  • Specific MS core systems, e.g. MS Azure, MS Defender, MS Office Suite, MS Server, SQL Server etc
