Job description
The Information Technology (IT) Technician provides technical support and maintenance for the hospital’s computer equipment. This role ensures reliable operation of technology tools and functions that support patient care, staff efficiency, and hospital operations. The IT Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, problem resolution, and assisting staff with hardware and system needs in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare data security standards., * Provide first-level technical support for hospital staff, responding to help desk requests in a timely manner.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices within the hospital network.
- Troubleshoot hardware and network issues and escalate unresolved problems as needed.
- Maintain hospital network security by assisting with updates, patches, antivirus protection, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and hospital IT security policies when handling patient data and protected health information (PHI) under the guidance of HiTech.
- Assist Human Resources with onboarding new staff by setting up accounts, access permissions, and necessary devices, when applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation of IT support activities, system changes, and asset inventory.
- Collaborate with IT team members to support projects, upgrades, and system implementations.
- Provide user training and education on hospital systems, security practices, and software applications.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned., This position operates in a hospital environment and may require occasional evening, weekend, or on-call support to ensure continuous technology operations.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Maintaining patient confidentiality?, Do you have a Associate’s degree?, * 1-3 years of experience in IT support, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of desktop support, networking concepts, and hardware maintenance.
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft 365, and hospital information systems preferred.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT security standards.
Education
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred., * Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods as needed.
- Manual dexterity required for handling technical equipment and devices.
