Job description

As a data engineer on the Property Underwriting Decision Engine (UDE) team, you’ll be instrumental in driving business success through regular monthly releases and enhancing our product to adapt to the evolving landscape of Property Insurance. We are brimming with innovative ideas to broaden the application of the Underwriting Decision Engine, and we seek creative solutions that are both agile and of high quality. In this position, you’ll be pivotal in accelerating the availability of critical data to our business partners, enabling them to analyze business impact and prioritize future initiatives effectively. As part of a small versatile team, you’ll have the opportunity to wear multiple hats including collaborating closely with Product Management, Underwriting, Catastrophe Management, and Research & Development to identify business challenges and deliver effective solutions. You’ll own releases and deployments, enhance tools with new features and technologies, develop and implement data solutions that support monthly product releases and product enhancement, and contribute to expanding the use cases for the Underwriting Decision Engine with creative and high-quality approaches. You’ll use your strong problem-solving skills, and excellent collaboration skills to working effectively in cross-functional teams.

This is a remote position for US based work only. Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm ET

Requirements

Do you have experience in Application support?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Information Technology discipline or related field of study and minimum of one year of work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications.

  • In lieu of degree, minimum of two years related work experience designing, programming, and supporting software programs or applications may be accepted.

Preferred Skills

  • Cloud experience with preferably AWS (S3, Lambda, etc.)
  • Experience with Linux, Python, Git, Terraform, SQL, building APIs (FastAPI), containers (Docker)
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt and Prefect
  • Self-learner with ability to debug and problem solve to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Experience understanding business goals and capabilities and utilizing data to achieve those goals, Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without the need or potential need, of current or future sponsorship for employment.
