Job description

  • Development, implementation and maintenance of operational scientific data algorithms and product processing software to derive geophysical parameters from remote sensing data;
  • Development of product quality monitoring software and tools;
  • Analysis and resolution of science data processing anomalies;
  • Instrument navigation, registration and calibration;
  • Calibration and Validation (Cal/Val) preparation, planning and execution, maintaining the expertise of Level 1 and Level 2 product Cal/Val;
  • Applications of satellite data in meteorology, oceanography, and atmospheric composition;
  • Scientific document writing.

Requirements

  • Experience with Sentinel-3 Level 2 Atmospheric Products, particularly Clouds, Aerosols and Water Vapour processing.
  • Practical knowledge of atmospheric retrieval validation, including Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) and Total Column Water Vapour (TCWV) products. Experience with match-up generation, validation datasets and performance assessment is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining operational Copernicus NRT processors for atmospheric products, including anomaly investigation, bug fixing, processor validation and operational monitoring.
  • Strong background in scientific software development using Python and/or C within a Linux environment. Experience with Git/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines and RPM-based deployments is desirable.
  • Experience developing and maintaining data validation and monitoring tools, including automated monitoring pipelines, dashboards and web-based monitoring solutions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain scientific data processing and analysis tools, including handling of satellite and in-situ datasets, statistical analysis and validation reporting.
  • Experience with operational data processing environments and tooling such as Docker, HTCondor, Linux, Bash scripting and API-based data processing systems would be a strong advantage.
  • Experience producing technical documentation, validation reports, software release documentation and maintaining project documentation in GitLab/Confluence environments.
  • Background in remote sensing, Earth Observation, atmospheric science, physics, environmental science or a related discipline.
