Job description

Intuit is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to help shape the future of the Intuit Business Platform through advanced AI research, rapid experimentation, and platform capability innovation. In this role, you will work at the intersection of foundational research and real-world impact, exploring and developing next-generation capabilities across classical AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.

You will partner closely with engineers, platform leaders, product managers, and applied scientists to identify high-value opportunities, prototype breakthrough ideas, and mature them into scalable platform capabilities that accelerate AI adoption across Intuit. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on solving hard problems, influencing platform strategy, and turning emerging AI advances into durable business advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced AI research and applied innovation to shape the future of the Intuit Business Platform.
  • Identify, prototype, and validate new capabilities in areas such as Generative AI, agentic systems, reasoning, orchestration, and model-driven platform intelligence.
  • Build fast, iterative prototypes to test ideas, generate insight, and accelerate innovation.
  • Translate successful research and prototypes into scalable platform capabilities in partnership with engineering teams.
  • Influence the multi-year technical vision and roadmap for AI/ML platform capabilities, ensuring Intuit stays at the forefront of a rapidly evolving landscape.
  • Drive key architectural and technical decisions that improve platform extensibility, scalability, and reuse across the company.
  • Establish rigorous approaches for experimentation, evaluation, and operational excellence in AI systems.
  • Collaborate across scientists, engineers, product managers, and platform leaders to align technical innovation with strategic business priorities.
  • Mentor team members and raise the bar for scientific thinking, technical depth, and execution quality.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Scalability?, * MS, PhD, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience building and scaling advanced AI, ML, or platform capabilities in industry or research-driven environments.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: Generative AI, agentic systems, applied machine learning, LLM systems, MLOps, AI infrastructure, or large-scale experimentation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages, with experience building production-grade systems.
  • Experience developing AI/ML capabilities on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proven track record of solving highly complex technical problems and delivering durable capabilities leveraged across multiple teams or organizations.
  • Experience influencing technical strategy and driving outcomes across cross-functional partners.
  • Strong bias for action, with the ability to move from ambiguous ideas to concrete results.
  • High standards for technical rigor, scientific quality, and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with Data Scientists, Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Platform teams.

  • Nice to have: contributions to open-source projects, published research, or experience translating emerging AI advances into platform or product innovation.
