Job description

Ebury’s strategic growth plan would not be possible without our Data team and we are seeking a Senior Analytics Platform Engineer to join our Data Platform Engineering team! Our mission is to develop, maintain and improve Ebury’s Data Platform - this role owns the Analytics Platform: the tools, frameworks, and standards that empower our Data Analysts to deliver trusted insights at scale. You will manage the full lifecycle of our BI and visualization stack, built on Sigma, together with dbt and BigQuery as the core modelling and warehousing tools, and help evolve how analysts work - bringing software engineering practices into the analytics workflow., * Own and evolve Ebury’s analytics platform end-to-end, with Sigma as the core BI and visualization tool - administration, governance, versioning, and best practices

  • Define and manage the SDLC for analyst workflows across dbt and BigQuery: development standards, testing, code review, CI/CD, and release processes
  • Build the frameworks and guardrails that enable self-service analytics - ensuring dashboards and datasets are discoverable, documented, governed, and trustworthy
  • Champion metrics consistency across the organisation, ensuring business definitions are aligned between the warehouse, semantic models, and BI layer
  • Support and upskill the Data Analyst community, helping them adopt analytics-engineering practices (version control, testing, modular modelling) as their ways of working evolve
  • Provide observability for analyst-facing data products: usage analytics, freshness, data quality signals, and cost/performance optimisation of BI workloads on BigQuery
  • Collaborate closely with the rest of the Data Platform team - scheduler & infra, semantic layer, and AI platform - to deliver a coherent platform experience for all data domains
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging BI and analytics tooling, patterns, and best practices in the modern data stack

Requirements

  • Self-motivation and curiosity, with a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, continuously improving both technical and business skills
  • Platform engineering experience building internal platforms consumed by other teams - ideally analytics or BI platforms
  • Hands-on expertise administering and scaling a modern BI tool (Sigma strongly preferred; experience with comparable tools such as Looker or Tableau also valued)
  • Deep experience with dbt and BigQuery - project structuring, testing strategies, performance and cost optimisation
  • Strong SQL proficiency and solid Python skills for tooling and automation
  • Experience establishing SDLC practices for analytics teams: Git workflows, CI/CD, testing, and documentation standards
  • Solid understanding of data governance concepts - lineage, access controls, cataloging - as they apply to the BI layer
  • Strong communication and enablement skills - you enjoy teaching, documenting, and raising the bar for how analysts work
  • Hands-on experience operating services on GCP is a plus
  • Fluency in English (Spanish, a plus)

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Discretionary bonus based on performance
  • Continued personal development through training and certification
  • We are Open Source friendly, following Open Source principles in our internal projects and encouraging contributions to external projects
