Job description

We are looking for an AI Platform Engineer to help build the next generation of an AI-powered Internal Developer Platform for a major international organisation.

You will create the core capabilities that enable hundreds of engineers and data scientists to build, deploy and operate software with greater speed, security and autonomy.

This is a deeply hands-on Staff role. You will lead through technical excellence while spending most of your time writing code, designing systems and delivering reusable platform capabilities.

The project

You will contribute to an enterprise-scale platform focused on developer experience, reliability, scalability and AI-assisted engineering.

The team treats the platform as a product: identifying developer friction, delivering self-service solutions and measuring their impact through feedback and adoption metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build business-critical platform capabilities.
  • Develop AI agents and agentic developer workflows.
  • Create AI-powered CLIs and self-service developer tooling.
  • Build Kubernetes Operators and controllers.
  • Develop platform APIs, SDKs and reusable components.
  • Create Golden Paths, developer portals and automated workflows.
  • Implement policy engines and automated governance processes.
  • Build GitHub Actions and CI/CD automation.
  • Establish technical patterns through production-quality code, prototypes and reference implementations.
  • Improve developer experience by working directly with engineers and data scientists.
  • Introduce AI-native practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive cloud, DevSecOps, security and automation solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing and building developer platforms or large-scale software platforms.
  • Strong focus on developer experience, reliability and scalability.
  • Proven production experience with Python.
  • Production experience with Go, particularly for systems-level components.
  • Hands-on experience delivering SDKs, CLIs, platform APIs or similar capabilities.
  • Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably with AWS.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Ability to lead through technical credibility, code and architecture.
  • Strong mentoring and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

Around 10 years of software engineering experience can be a useful reference, but demonstrated impact and technical depth are more important than a specific number of years.

Nice to have

  • AI agents or agentic developer workflows.
  • Kubernetes Operators or controllers.
  • Backstage plugins or Internal Developer Platforms.
  • TypeScript and React.
  • Platform API or SDK design.
  • LLMs, RAG, MCP or AI infrastructure.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
  • Open-source software or developer-tooling contributions.
