Job description

  • Enterprise GIS Governance: Define and manage data quality standards, metadata guidelines, and spatial data lifecycle practices.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Drive adoption of GIS governance policies across various business departments.
  • Workforce & Skill Models: Develop workforce role standards and skill competency frameworks for technical disciplines.
  • Leadership Reporting: Write governance documentation and present complex spatial data strategies to non-technical stakeholders and executive committees.

Requirements

(Note: This is not a standard GIS Analyst or Map-Maker role. Candidates must have hands-on experience establishing enterprise data governance practices.)

We are seeking a senior GIS Governance Coordinator to establish, improve, and manage enterprise geospatial governance. If you excel at defining data lifecycle standards, creating workforce skill models, and bridging technical GIS concepts with leadership strategy, this position is for you., Candidates must have at least 8 years of experience in each of the following areas:

  • Enterprise GIS Environments: In-depth knowledge of GIS principles and technologies, including Esri tools, enterprise geodatabases, and spatial data services.
  • Data Governance: Strong background in stewardship, metadata management, lifecycle governance, and data quality concepts.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management: Proven experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing complex initiatives.
  • Process & Workflow Design: Expertise in research, analytical thinking, workflow documentation, and process optimization.
  • Governance Documentation: Clear ability to draft policy documents and communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in geospatial governance or transportation data domains.
  • Experience building competency models for technical GIS roles.
