Job description

The NCSB is seeking a Microcomputer System Analyst that provides instruction, standards, procedures, and software/hardware support for microcomputer related issues for the NCSB.

Department Hiring Salary Range: $60,377-$69,238

Essential Functions

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Diagnoses and resolves computer problems by researching, evaluating, recommending, installing, and maintaining selected hardware and software, providing technical support for software and operating systems.

  • Provides support by answering telephone inquiries, resolving issues, and training and advising employees on computer

procedures.

  • Acts as security liaison to the Communications and Technology department.

  • Sets up new computers by installing/configuring all required software, ensuring all hardware/software works properly, transporting, setting up, and moving existing computer equipment, and connecting new products to networks.

  • Sets up and configures new printers by installing all required software, connecting to network, and transporting, setting up, and moving existing printers.

  • Sets up and supports projectors and any associated presentations devices.

  • Project manage and execute all office moves, major program relocations, and city mandated directives (inventory, imaging computers, software roll outs, etc.).

Requirements

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate’s degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Two years’ experience in Management Information Systems.

If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.

  • The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
