Job description

The Controller Junior & Data Analyst plays a key role within the Finance Department, supporting the evolution towards a data-driven, efficient and strategically oriented finance function. Reporting to the Head of Controlling & Post-Award, the role combines financial analysis, business intelligence, process automation and digital transformation, with a strong cross-functional impact across Finance. The position acts as a key enabler of the department’s transformation agenda, contributing to improved decision-making, operational efficiency and data quality.

About the Finance Department

The role is integrated within the Finance Department and works closely with Controlling, Accounting and Procurement to ensure consistency of financial data across teams. The position contributes to strategic initiatives requiring structured analysis, promotes a data-driven culture within Finance and supports the alignment of digital tools with business needs.

Requirements

  • You have 0-3 years of experience in finance, controlling, data analysis or similar roles
  • You have experience with Power BI and advanced Excel
  • You are able to support budget monitoring, financial execution and analytical reporting for research projects
  • You have an interest in data, automation, continuous improvement and process standardisation
  • You are able to work across teams and contribute to cross-functional Finance initiatives

Desirable but not required/ Nice to have

  • Experience with ERP systems or participation in ERP implementation, testing, validation or user adoption
  • Experience with process automation tools, including Power Platform, Excel-based automation or similar digital tools
  • Experience setting up projects and keeping funds and grants accounting records updated in an ERP environment

Education and training

  • You hold a degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or a similar field
  • A master’s in Data Analysis or a related area will be considered an asset

Languages

  • You are fluent in Spanish and/or Catalan
  • You have an advanced level of English

Technical skills

  • You have advanced Excel and Power BI skills
  • You are able to design and maintain financial dashboards and monitor financial and operational KPIs
  • You have knowledge of data quality, data consistency and basic data governance principles
  • You have an interest in digital tools, automation and business intelligence applied to finance processes

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

  • Ability to collaborate with different Finance teams and stakeholders
