Job description
A client in the Nashville, TN area is seeking a Sr Software Developer (C++) to join their team. You will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing a proprietary portfolio optimization and trading platform that manages the firm’s assets and directly supports revenue-generating investment activities. You will partner closely with Portfolio Managers and investment professionals to understand business needs, troubleshoot issues, and deliver new functionality that improves trading and portfolio management workflows.
In this role, you will develop and maintain Windows-based applications, C# services, and backend components while working extensively with SQL Server databases, complex data structures, and multi-threaded applications. You will analyze business and technical requirements, design solutions, and implement enhancements that improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
The position also includes participation in a rotating production support schedule, where you will investigate and resolve critical issues ranging from application errors and data discrepancies to time-sensitive trading problems. Success in this role requires the ability to quickly assess situations, determine business impact, triage issues effectively, and drive resolutions under tight deadlines.
Beyond software development, you will serve as a trusted technical partner to business stakeholders by communicating project progress, facilitating discussions, coordinating meetings, and supporting project delivery efforts. As a member of a small, highly collaborative team, you will be expected to operate independently, take ownership of complex problems, apply sound technical judgment, and proactively identify opportunities to improve both the technology platform and the overall user experience.
Requirements
5-10 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong expertise in C++
- Experience with C# application development or similar OOP (object-oriented programming) languages
- Experience developing Windows desktop applications.
- Strong SQL Server experience and ability to work within complex database-driven applications.
- Strong ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with business users and investment professionals.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively apply existing technical toolsets to solve problems.
- Local to Nashville, TN and open to 4 days onsite.
