Hitachi Energy is seeking Senior GMS Application Software Development Engineer for its Houston (USA) location/

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Design and develop software solutions for GMS applications, contributing to the enhancement of system functionality, performance, and integration capabilities.
  • Collaborate with our customers’ experts to configure our applications to meet the customer requirements.
  • Work closely with customers to develop efficient and robust workflow integrations between SCADA/EMS/GMS systems and other IT/OT systems, leveraging state-of-the-art interface and integration technologies.Create and execute test plans and procedures with customers to ensure the system meets contractual requirements.
  • Provide training to customers on operating GMS functions within the system.Coordinate and efficiently resolve technical problems reported by customers in collaboration with our technical team.
  • Provide expert support to the proposals and tendering team, enabling Hitachi Energy to submit high quality bids.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Required Masters/PhD Power system Electrical Engineering or Computer science or related engineering stream with 4 -10 years in software development, debugging, and performance tuning.

  • Proficiency / experience with programming languages utilizing, C/C++, and/or FORTRAN.
  • Solid theoretical background in Numerical Analysis Methods, Optimization Techniques, and Power System Modelling and Operation is a plus. Experience in model prototyping through use of optimization toolkits or machine learning / AI packages tools will be a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Generation Management System Applications: Generation Control, Network Analysis, Operator Training Simulator is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with power system modeling and simulation, analysis and operation, optimization, and numerical analysis methodology. Familiar with analytical tools, such as Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, AGC, Economic Dispatch and Power Systems Simulators etc. are desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Ability to interact effectively with team members, Product management, and customers.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile development environments, including backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to and get information from peers, product management, project team, sales, customers, management and other stakeholders.
