Api Design Code Restructuring Legacy Systems

Job description

Archon Resources is hiring an Applications Developer II for a state agency client in Oklahoma City. This role sits at the center of a new modernization initiative: you will build integrations and APIs that connect systems across the organization, and help transform legacy COBOL applications into modern, maintainable code using C#, Python, or similar languages. If you enjoy both greenfield integration work and the puzzle of untangling legacy systems, this is a strong fit.

What You’‘ll Do

  • Partner with business users to evaluate requirements, propose solutions, and estimate project timelines
  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between diverse systems and platforms
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable APIs connecting internal and external systems
  • Develop scripts and automation routines that streamline integration processes
  • Evaluate existing COBOL-based systems and identify modernization opportunities
  • Refactor COBOL code into modern languages to improve functionality, performance, and maintainability
  • Document integration processes, configurations, and best practices
  • Stay current on emerging integration technologies and recommend process improvements

Requirements

  • Hands-on applications development experience with a focus on system integration and API development
  • Experience working with or modernizing legacy COBOL codebases
  • Proficiency in C#, Python, or a comparable modern language
  • Strong collaboration and documentation skills; comfortable gathering requirements from non-technical users
  • One of the following: 12 semester hours of computer science or MIS coursework plus one year of applications development experience; a vocational/technical certification in applications development (156+ hours) plus one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React.js
