Job description
Join a team supporting the sustainment of military aircraft by developing and maintaining the technical publications that keep fleets mission ready. We’re seeking candidates with aircraft maintenance, avionics, or technical publications experience who enjoy translating complex engineering data into clear, accurate maintenance documentation.
In this role, you’ll work alongside engineering and maintenance teams to create and update aircraft technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, illustrated parts breakdowns, flight manuals, and installation instructions used by technicians in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and update aircraft technical publications for new and fielded military aircraft systems
- Author and maintain:
- Theory of Operations
- Flight Manuals
- Testing & Troubleshooting Procedures
- Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB)
- Removal & Installation Procedures
- Schematic and Wiring Diagrams
- Research engineering source data and resolve documentation gaps with engineering teams
- Review engineering drawings, vendor documentation, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
- Analyze maintenance concepts, workflows, and equipment requirements to determine documentation impacts
- Create illustration markups for technical artists
- Update manuals based on engineering changes, equipment modifications, and customer feedback
- Perform peer reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with publication standards
- Support customer verification reviews and implement required revisions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 1+ year of experience supporting aircraft technical publications or aircraft maintenance engineering
- 1+ year of experience with tactical aircraft avionics systems such as:
- Flight Controls
- Radar
- Communications
- Weapons Systems
- Electrical Power Distribution
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with any of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
- 2+ years of military or civilian aircraft maintenance experience
- Experience authoring aircraft technical manuals
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Engineering Drawings
- Vendor Technical Data
- 3D Models
- Wiring Diagrams
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Experience with S1000D or Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
- Familiarity with XML
- Experience using Contenta publishing software
