Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Release Manager with a strong focus on the Risk Management Framework to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with NIST 800-53: “Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations” and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) outlined in DoD Instruction 8510.01. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the release of newly created software and assist a team of Information System Security Officers with navigating software through the RMF process. This role is 100% onsite at a facility in Washington DC, * Document and prepare comprehensive notes on completed RMF steps for newly developed software, and deliver clear, concise briefings to the branch to ensure understanding and compliance

Participate in technical meetings with the CIO Team, providing clear, concise, and effective communication to ensure alignment and actionable outcomes

Collaborate with development teams to assess application architecture and identify necessary modifications to diagrams and documentation

Develop and implement strategies for guiding software through the Change Management process outlined by the organization

Oversee and ensure the secure, efficient transfer of data across domains while adhering to organizational protocols and compliance requirements

Stay current with industry trends and advancements in cybersecurity, risk management, and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of best practices and innovation

Analyze technical documents and relevant resources to provide well-informed responses to leadership inquiries regarding RMF-related issues and other complex technical challenges

Create and consistently update detailed documentation on application architecture, cybersecurity controls, and the software development lifecycle to support transparency and alignment with organizational standards.
Requirements

Active TS/SCI security clearance
-
Industry-recognized certification CompTIA Security+CE; other certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly valued

A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field

5+ years of experience in with NIST standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, NIST 800-37) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Strong understanding of security controls, vulnerability assessments, and incident response procedures

Demonstrated understanding of software development practices, including expertise in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), to ensure integration of robust security measures throughout all stages of development

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
