Job description

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses to support enterprise analytics and mission objectives.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue, Python, and related technologies to ingest, transform, and distribute data across multiple environments.
  • Integrate data from diverse internal and external sources using APIs and modern data integration techniques to create unified, accessible datasets.
  • Architect and implement data solutions leveraging AWS services including S3, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation, Data Catalog, and related cloud technologies.
  • Create and maintain secure, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines that support large-scale processing and analytics workloads.
  • Package, curate, and version datasets for machine learning model training, fine-tuning, and AI workloads using AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
  • Enforce data governance, security, and compliance requirements, including CUI handling, PII detection, auditing, and monitoring utilizing tools such as Amazon Macie.
  • Establish and promote software engineering and coding best practices, ensuring solutions are secure, testable, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and recommend technology solutions for data processing, storage, access, and enterprise architecture initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and drive continuous improvement, innovation, and successful project delivery across the program.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, including designing and building enterprise data pipelines, data warehouses, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, Data Catalog, Lake Formation, Macie, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Java, Scala, or R, with experience developing secure, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
  • Experience with big data and distributed technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data integration methodologies (ETL/ELT and federation), relational database optimization, partitioning, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience with data cleansing, transformation, integration, and governance to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with proficiency using AI-assisted software development tools and practices.
