Job description

The Technical Specialist - Mainframe Expert will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise mainframe environments. This role requires strong expertise in IBM z/OS, CICS, DB2, Endevor, IMS, JCL, and related mainframe technologies. The candidate will provide technical leadership in system administration, configuration and release management, database performance optimization, application support, and troubleshooting activities. This position will collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable, efficient, and secure mainframe operations., * Provide technical expertise and operational support for IBM mainframe environments, including z/OS system functionality and related components.

  • Perform CICS administration, troubleshooting, debugging, and production support activities in collaboration with application developers and technical teams.
  • Provide configuration management and release management support using Endevor, including implementation guidance and best practices.
  • Support DB2 environments by utilizing database tools, utilities, and performance monitoring techniques.
  • Develop, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries to improve application performance and reduce operational costs.
  • Troubleshoot mainframe applications and middleware integrations, including MQ and related technologies.
  • Analyze system issues, identify root causes, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Provide guidance on mainframe standards, processes, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure successful deployments and stable production environments.
  • Support IMS, JCL, and other mainframe technologies as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of IBM Z/OS operating system, including its interrelationships, architecture, and functionality - 7+ years of experience
  • Experience providing configuration management and release management support and guidance for Endevor software - 7+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) programming language and techniques - 7+ years of experience
  • Experience with DB2 tools and utilities to support database operations - 7+ years of experience
  • Ability to evaluate complex SQL queries and recommend performance improvements and cost-saving solutions - 7+ years of experience
