Job description

The Software/DB Level 1 Developer is an entry-level professional responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and system integrations along with relational databases under close supervision. Key tasks include writing and maintaining SQL code, performing data migration, testing code, troubleshooting, and assisting with database optimization to ensure system efficiency. Some systems administration will be required as needed to be scoped within the parameters of what is needed to maintain the primary responsibilities. Responsibilities and Duties: This job description and performance standard document have been prepared as a guide to ensure better communication and understanding. Your Supervisor/Manager may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this description. Likewise, this description will be revised when required to meet current business needs. * Database Development: Create and maintain database structures, schemas, and tables, ensuring data integrity and security. Some examples include software applications using JavaScript, PHP, jQuery, VB.NET, and VBA.

* System Administrative Tasks: Some administrative tasks will be required as needed to maintain system operations, stability and continuous improvement

* Software Engineering: Write and test code for software applications to improve performance and functionality. Optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries across relational databases.

* Data Management: Perform data cleanup, migrations, and backups while assisting with database design. Continue to support database design, logic, and reporting tasks.

* Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Monitor system performance and debug database/application issues. Also, collaborate code reviews, debugging, and process improvements.

* Collaboration: Work with other developers, analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and implement solutions. Assist with documentation and follow best practices in software and database development.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, PHP, jQuery, VB.NET, and VBA.

  • Solid understanding of SQL databases and query logic.

  • Basic understanding of software development, lifecycle and version control (e.g., Git).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

  • Experience with automation or reporting tools.

  • Experience with web hosting frameworks (operating systems (Windows, Unix), Apache, etc.).

  • PowerBI and other advanced Excel skills including utilizing PowerQuery and related ODBC/SQL queries.
