As a Workstation Support Technician, you will provide technical support to Department of Revenue (DOR) computers, printers, and mobile devices that enhance productivity and increase efficiency at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and for the benefit of Wisconsin taxpayers.

  • Problem determination/resolution of routine application and system software issues and requests.
  • Assists with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of routine hardware and software updates, security configurations.
  • Communicates and coordinates extensively with a wide variety of individuals that use IT services provided by the Division of Technology Services (DTS) at DOR.

Special Requirement: This position requires the ability to set up and move equipment that can weigh up to 45 lbs with or without accommodation.

I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Remote/Telework up to 60%. Note: During probation you will have the opportunity to gradually increase to 60% (i.e., working remotely three (3) days per week, and will report to the 2135 Rimrock Road; Madison WI building, two (2) days per week) within 9 months (of your 12 month probation) based on performance and workload needs. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs.

Scheduled Hours: Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 4:30 pm (depending on length of lunch).

Requirements

Minimum-qualified candidates will have experience in each of the following:

  • Experience using software tools to manage, or secure computers and/or mobile devices. (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Group Policy Management console, Microsoft Intune).
  • Experience providing IT support to internal or external customers.
  • Experience creating or updating technical IT documentation.

Well-qualified candidates will have experience in a minimum of two (2) two the following (in addition to the minimum qualifications):

  • Experience using software tools to manage, and secure computers and mobile devices. (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Configuration Manager, Group Policy Management console, Microsoft Intune).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Intune in a Windows 11 enterprise environment (e.g., device enrollment, configuration profiles, application deployment, compliance policies, monitoring, etc.).
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving endpoint issues such as policy conflicts, device enrollment failures, or application deployment problems.
  • Experience using one or more scripting language or programming language (e.g., Windows Batch, PowerShell, Perl, etc.).

The classification of this position is an IS Technical Services Senior, which is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 34. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
