Job description

A Higher Education client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with at least seven years of experience designing, building, and supporting modern enterprise data platforms. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise data warehouses, data marts, semantic models, and scalable data integration frameworks that support structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Python, SQL, R, Spark Scala, PySpark, SparkSQL, Azure cloud infrastructure, MSBI, SQL Server, T-SQL, and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), along with expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT development, and modern data architecture., In this role, the Senior Data Engineer will gather business and technical requirements, develop and deploy data lake, lakehouse, and data warehouse solutions, and support the migration of legacy platforms to Azure. Responsibilities also include designing dimensional models, star schemas, and data vault architectures; implementing data transformation, cleansing, and quality assurance processes; supporting Agile development methodologies and modern SDLC/ALM practices; and providing ongoing maintenance, modernization, and support for legacy MSBI environments. The successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving and customer service skills, work closely with cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, or related fields - may be substituted with appropriate years of experience in similar domains.
  • 7+ years of experience with Data Modeling (Relational and Dimensional) and ETL/ELT (Extract-Transform-Load), Pipeline development and orchestration, foundation data layer solution architecture
  • Experience with most or all of the following: including SQL, Python, R, Spark Scala, PySQL, SparkSQL, Azure infrastructure, MSBI
  • Strong SQL experience: SQL Server, T SQL, and SQL Server Analysis Services
  • Azure Data Engineering experience (Azure Data Factory, SQL database, DevOps) and experience with migration to Azure from legacy platforms

Benefits & conditions

This position is a 6 month contract role with possibility of extensions and/or conversion, and can pay between $60-70/hour with medical benefits and 401k options offered on contract. If interested, please apply!
