Job description
- Own the company’s overall technology strategy and roadmap in alignment with business goals.
- Lead and scale the engineering organization, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
- Partner directly with the CEO and executive team on technology decisions that support company growth.
- Oversee the architecture, reliability, and scalability of the e-commerce platform and supporting systems.
- Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, deployment, and infrastructure standards.
- Manage technical risk, including system security, data protection, and platform uptime.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools that improve platform performance and customer experience.
- Own the technology budget, including infrastructure costs, tooling, and team resourcing.
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key technology vendors and partners.
- Establish clear engineering processes and communication cadences across the organization.
- Represent the technology function to the board and other stakeholders as needed.
- Anticipate future scaling needs and proactively address technical debt and infrastructure gaps.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in a senior engineering leadership role, including prior experience as a CTO or VP of Engineering.
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams and platforms at a growing company.
- Strong background in e-commerce platforms, infrastructure, and architecture.
- Proven ability to partner directly with a CEO and executive team on strategic decision making.
- Strong understanding of system security, data protection, and platform reliability at scale.
- Excellent leadership and team development skills.
- Strong budget management and resource planning experience.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies to support business growth.
- Comfort operating in a fast paced, evolving business environment.
