Job description

We’re building a next-generation Healthcare App Platform - a flexible foundation that enables rapid development of high-quality, customizable healthcare applications. This is not your typical role - we’re building the platform that builds the products.

Healthcare apps share a lot of the same DNA - appointments, care plans, status tracking, forms, communication, reporting. The challenge is in allowing for workflow customization without sacrificing developer productivity or runtime performance.

We’re looking for Senior Engineers to help define and build the service-oriented architecture that powers this platform, in collaboration with in-house SMEs, product, and design partners.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and building core platform services in Node.js / NestJS, focused on performance, modularity, and long-term maintainability
  • Modeling complex domains in PostgreSQL, using sound data architecture principles (BCNF/3NF) to power customizable healthcare workflows
  • Creating internal tooling, APIs, and libraries that accelerate product teams and enable safe, scalable customization across applications
  • Collaborating across product, design, and clinical teams to shape platform capabilities that directly support real-world healthcare use cases
  • Enabling front-end teams to build high-quality applications by providing reliable, well-documented service interfaces and reusable UI primitives
  • Balancing short-term delivery with long-term vision, making tradeoffs explicit and optimizing for developer velocity, product agility, and platform consistency
  • Driving platform adoption by aligning evolution of internal tools with the needs of product and solution delivery teams, At Chorus Innovations, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible workplace environment for all individuals, including job applicants with disabilities. We recognize the value that individuals with diverse abilities bring to our organization and are dedicated to providing equal opportunities for all applicants.

If you require accommodations at any stage of the job application process due to a disability, please inform us of your needs. We will do our best to work with you to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made to facilitate your participation in the recruitment process.

Please note that accommodations will be provided in a manner that respects your privacy and confidentiality. Disclosing a disability or requesting accommodations will not affect your candidacy or opportunities for employment with Chorus Innovations.

To request accommodations or discuss your needs further, please contact careers@joinchorus.com. We encourage you to reach out as early as possible to ensure that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of engineering experience, with a strong background in platform or internal tools development
  • Deep experience with:
  • Node.js + NestJS
  • PostgreSQL (including strong data modeling skills)
  • React (used in the context of platform UI libraries and applications)
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator: You live and breathe platform engineering, and you evangelize the power of a well-built platform.
  • Strong systems thinking: you’ve built frameworks, SDKs, design systems, or internal platforms that scale
  • A pragmatic, product-oriented mindset - you’re focused on empowering other engineers through elegant abstractions
  • Demonstrated product sense: understands user needs (internal teams), avoids overengineering, and builds with a clear value proposition
  • Comfortable building and owning services in a service-oriented architecture
  • The strongest candidates have:
  • Experience in healthcare, workflow engines, permissions/RBAC systems, rules engines, or multi-tenant architectures
  • Experience maintaining a fleet of applications built on a common platform
  • Previous Product Management experience
  • Previous consulting or external customer facing experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience migrating mission-critical systems onto a new architecture
  • Familiarity with Domain Driven Design
  • Previous Python development experience

Benefits & conditions

  • Work on important, meaningful problems in healthcare
  • Shape the foundation of a platform that will power dozens (eventually hundreds) of applications
  • Collaborate with a team that values design, pragmatism, and velocity
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and full benefits

Compensation Disclosure The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $190,000 in the Los Angeles market. Actual offers depend on skills, experience, and location, and may include additional components such as performance bonuses, stock options, and benefits.
