Job description
I am supporting an international business who are pioneering and building the future of prediction markets… a real-money trading platform where people back their judgement on the outcomes they actually care about, from sport to entertainment to world events.
This isn’t a feature team bolted onto a legacy stack. It’s a true 0*1 build: product, architecture, and engineering culture, all being defined right now. This role will offer you the chance to be one of the people defining them.
If you want your fingerprints on the foundations rather than the tenth engineer shipping inside someone else’s decisions, this is that role!
What you’ll actually be doing
- Designing, building, and owning real pieces of our Go backend (Including services, data models, APIs)
- Driving the technical evolution of our markets platform end to end, working shoulder-to-shoulder with product and design
- Integrating with backend APIs and platform teams to build systems that are reliable and genuinely observable
- Leading design, build, and ship of high-quality, scalable web experiences in React, Next.js, and modern TypeScript
- Owning features end-to-end: spec * build * instrument * deploy * monitor * iterate.
- Designing feature flags and experimentation tooling so we can validate ideas fast and safely
- Setting the bar in code review
AI Assisted engineering
They want engineers who’ve gone past the novelty phase with Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar & who use these tools daily to ship production code faster without cutting corners on quality.
If you can point to a real example of how AI tooling changed your workflow (not just “I used it,” but a measurable before-and-after) they will want to hear about it.
You’ll help set team standards for this: prompt patterns, review checklists etc
Requirements
- A Senior level understanding and experience in production with backend systems, with genuine hands-on Go experience - this is a core requirement
- Solid grounding in backend fundamentals: API design, service architecture, data modelling, and the judgement to know when something needs to be correct versus when it needs to be fast
- Comfort working with relational databases at a decent level of depth
- Fluency in React and modern TypeScript
- Experience with Next.js and modern state management (TanStack Query, Zustand, Tailwind, or equivalents) is a strong plus
- Comfort owning a feature end-to-end
- Demonstrated, hands-on use of AI development tools to ship real production code (not just product-AI experience (LLM features, RAG pipelines) but tools that make you faster, on both sides of the stack)
- A strong handle on performance, testing, and safe deployment practices (CI/CD, monitoring, the operational side of shipping software that matters)
- The ability to talk to engineers and stakeholders alike, in language each of them actually wants to hear
Nice to have
- Time in real-money transaction systems, trading platforms, or regulated fintech
- Previous life in a 0*1 or high-growth startup
- Open-source contributions or a visible technical community presence
- A history of building developer tools or improving engineering productivity for others
- Experience leading without formal authority
Benefits & conditions
- Full-stack means full-stack: real ownership across frontend and backend, not a token Go PR every quarter
- AI-assisted development isn’t a policy on a wiki page here - it’s how the team actually works, and you’ll help shape what “good” looks like
- Millions of events a day, real money, real stakes. This is the kind of scale and consequence that makes engineering decisions matter
- A genuinely flat, fast-moving team where taking initiative isn’t just tolerated, it’s expected
- If you’ve got some of this and not all of it, apply anyway. We’d rather talk to you and find out than have you talk yourself out of it.
- Competitive base salary + Bonus + Stocks
- Fully remote role
