Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) supports mission-critical federal cybersecurity programs that provide onsite incident response services to civilian Government agencies and critical infrastructure organizations experiencing cyber-attacks. These teams rapidly investigate security incidents, characterize breaches, develop mitigation strategies, and assist customers with restoring critical systems and services. We are seeking a Senior Linux Platform Administrator to support the design, development, deployment, and administration of advanced cybersecurity platforms within a mission-focused lab environment. This position is responsible for administering enterprise Linux platforms, automating infrastructure deployments, managing Splunk environments, and supporting secure, scalable systems that enable analysts to perform critical cyber defense operations. The successful candidate will leverage expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ansible Automation Platform, Splunk Enterprise, and enterprise systems administration to improve platform reliability, automate operational processes, strengthen security, and ensure mission continuity., * Serve as the lead Linux Systems Administrator supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments across development, lab, and production systems.
- Perform large-scale configuration management and deployment across Linux/Unix, Windows, MacOS, and virtualized environments supporting enterprise infrastructure.
- Support the implementation and integration of new technologies and equipment within the lab environment.
- Provide ongoing systems administration, technical support, system upgrades, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and workflows to automate application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
- Configure, deploy, and administer the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for enterprise-scale configuration management and compliance.
- Administer and maintain Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud environments for system monitoring, security analytics, and operational intelligence.
- Develop Splunk dashboards, searches, alerts, and reports to proactively monitor system health, performance, and security events.
- Implement and maintain security controls including STIG compliance, access management, auditing, and Linux system hardening.
- Configure and maintain granular access controls while monitoring platform performance, availability, backups, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex enterprise storage issues, including storage replication across local and wide area networks.
- Monitor storage infrastructure and remediate storage-related system and network issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and recommend process improvements for customer approval.
- Manage assigned technical projects and deliver solutions in accordance with established objectives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational policies.
- Apply cybersecurity best practices, tools, and methodologies to mitigate system vulnerabilities and strengthen platform security., * Hybrid work schedule requiring onsite support 2-3 days per week, depending on mission and operational requirements.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active Secret Clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
- Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry on Duty (EOD) Suitability.
- Five (5) or more years of experience as a Linux Systems Administrator.
- Three (3) or more years of experience administering Splunk Enterprise and supporting log ingestion.
- Three (3) or more years of experience with Ansible automation using Ansible Core, Ansible Tower, or Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
- Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Experience implementing STIG compliance and Linux security hardening.
- Experience with enterprise systems administration, configuration management, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple physical locations., * Developing technical procedures, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Virtualization automation and optimization.
- Administration of Linux/Unix, Windows, and MacOS operating systems.
- Enterprise storage administration and replication technologies.
- Splunk dashboard development and operational monitoring.
- Enterprise infrastructure automation and orchestration.
- Supporting Federal cybersecurity or incident response environments., Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline., High School Diploma with seven (7) or more years of directly relevant experience in Linux systems administration, platform administration, or enterprise infrastructure support.
