Job description

  • Ensure the successful deployment of CDN hardware into production.
  • Support teams who use the CDN to deliver content such as IP Linear, VOD, cloud DVR, and internal and external over-the-top customers as well as syndication partners.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to create and enforce service level objectives (SLO) and service level indicators (SLI).
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware and application issues within the CDN.
  • Design and develop new tools and applications to automate existing pipelines.
  • Be involved in on-call duties as necessary., * Apache Traffic Control (ATC)

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience using a scripting language like Python.
  • 1+ years working with a configuration management tool like Ansible.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
  • Strong working knowledge of Unix/Linux, HTTP and HTTP Status codes, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP,UDP,DNS,OSI Model), and virtualization (Openstack, VMWare, KVM).
  • Have a data driven and analytical mindset.
  • Large-scale system design and development knowledge.
  • Experience with client/server application architecture.
  • Understanding of CDN concepts.
  • Willingness to work with server hardware platforms and vendors.
  • Customer-focused delivery under agile methodology.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

The CDN consists of thousands of individual servers distributed across Comcast’s entire footprint as well as with multiple syndication partners in the US and Canada. As the CDN continues to scale we will need engineers who can automate the management of these servers, streamline deployment pipelines, reduce mean time to recovery, and quickly identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues. You’ll be working with some of Comcast’s best engineers on the future of content delivery.

As a CDN OpsEng SRE work and collaborate with industry experts from many disciplines: software architects and developers, network engineers, data scientists, security specialists, and various streaming video technologists. CDN OpsEng SRE also engage with quality assurance engineers, technical operators, product owners, and vendors.

Your team will build and deploy servers that distribute video content to millions of existing and new customers.
