Job description

  • Network Operations & Maintenance:

  • Perform daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and load balancers.

  • Ensure optimal performance and availability of network services across a nationwide footprint.

  • Support and maintain VoIP solutions to ensure reliable voice communication across the organization.

  • Service Management:

  • Support and maintain VPN connectivity for remote users and secure communications.

  • Manage internet connectivity via TIC (Trusted Internet Connection) and ensure compliance with security standards.

  • Maintain and optimize cloud connectivity with AWS and Azure environments.

  • Oversee high-speed connectivity through ESNet for critical applications and data transfers.

  • Incident Response & Support:

  • Provide 24x7 support for network-related incidents and outages, including on-call rotation.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Configuration & Deployment:

  • Configure and deploy network devices and services, ensuring adherence to best practices and security policies.

  • Implement changes and upgrades to network hardware and software as required.

  • Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards for network security and performance.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 9 years with High School Diploma

Technical Expertise:

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and F5 network hardware and software.

  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, load balancing, and wireless technologies.

  • Proficiency in VPN technologies, TIC connectivity, and cloud networking (AWS, Azure).

Certifications:

  • CCNA or equivalent certification recommended; higher-level certifications (CCNP, JNCIP, PCNSE, F5-CA) are a plus.

Other Skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Benefits & conditions

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
