Job description

We’re working with an advanced engineering and product development firm based in Wilmington, MA that builds cutting-edge robotics and automation systems across multiple industries. They are hiring a full-time Senior Software Engineer to focus on robotics, real-time systems, and AI/ML integration, owning the critical layer between machine learning models and the physical hardware they control. This is a full-time position with a hybrid schedule with 2- 3 days onsite per week.

This role is highly hands-on with C/C++, Python, ROS2, industrial robotics, and real-time Linux systems, and sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and intelligent systems. You’ll work closely with ML, mechanical, and embedded teams to bring AI models to life through motion systems, actuators, and industrial robotics. They’re looking for someone who enjoys solving deep technical challenges across software, firmware, and hardware, and who wants to be at the forefront of physical AI and robotics innovation., Tech Breakdown

Daily Responsibilities

  • 80% Hands on Engineering

Requirements

  • 5 + years/senior level in Robotics and Software Engineering
  • Strong programming in C and C++
  • Strong python experience with scripting, tooling and automation
  • Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 such as writing services, nodes, actions, and hardware interface layers while also being comfortable launching systems such as tf2, and parameter management
  • Proven experience with industrial robot controllers such as KUKA, FANUC, ABB, Universal Robots, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols in production systems (EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus, Profinet)
  • Real-time systems experience with Linux and experience debugging communication failures

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Machine vision integration experience
  • Knowledge of ML interference run times and understanding of operational constraints
  • Exposure to simulation / digital twin environments
  • Experience owning architecture and systems design decisions through production
