Job description

We are seeking a Middleware Software Engineer to join our engineering team responsible for building, packaging, and delivering enterprise middleware solutions for containerized platforms. This is a software engineering role, not an operations or production support position., * Engineer, customize, and package enterprise middleware products for internal consumption and deployment.

  • Take open-source middleware technologies and build enterprise-supported, reusable software packages for internal platforms.
  • Develop standardized deployment artifacts for containerized environments using automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Build and maintain automated deployment pipelines for middleware products.
  • Customize, configure, and optimize middleware platforms to meet internal engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering teams to deploy middleware solutions into Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
  • Develop reusable automation for installation, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Work closely with software engineering teams to integrate middleware platforms into enterprise application delivery pipelines.
  • Contribute to CI/CD automation and release engineering practices.
  • Support cloud-native deployment strategies across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience engineering middleware products into reusable, enterprise-ready software packages that can be deployed consistently across Kubernetes and OpenShift environments. This role focuses on software packaging, automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud-native application delivery., * 5+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise middleware technologies.

  • Strong experience packaging and engineering middleware software for enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more middleware platforms including:
  • Apache HTTP Server
  • Apache Tomcat
  • JBoss EAP
  • Experience containerizing middleware applications for:
  • Kubernetes
  • OpenShift
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience using:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Experience with Helm charts and ArgoCD for Kubernetes application deployment.
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud platform:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • GCP
  • Strong understanding of container technologies and cloud-native application deployment.
  • Experience building reusable deployment packages rather than simply administering middleware environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Python scripting or development experience for automation and tooling.
  • Experience developing internal platform products or engineering reusable middleware frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GitOps methodologies.
  • Experience working with enterprise platform engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle management and release engineering.

Technical Environment

  • Middleware: Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, JBoss EAP
  • Containers: Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • Automation: Ansible, Terraform
  • CI/CD: ArgoCD, Helm, Jenkins/GitHub Actions/GitLab CI
  • Cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Languages: Python (nice to have)

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a software engineer with middleware expertise, not a traditional middleware administrator or operations engineer. They should be comfortable taking open-source middleware products, customizing and packaging them into enterprise-ready solutions, and automating deployments across modern container platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD best practices. Python experience is a plus but not required.
