Job description

The Operational Intelligence Team seeks a strong engineer to develop, document, and drive the monitoring strategy and its adoption and evolution, with a focus on standards and application instrumentation for critical business applications. As a Senior Architect, you will participate in the development and implementation of monitoring strategies and solutions aligned as core to the business information flows and systems architecture. This is a unique opportunity to work with business, application development, and support teams to create monitoring requirements and build end-to-end monitoring solutions., * Rollout of the strategic monitoring tool across the client’s applications

  • Act as a SME for monitoring tools that form part of the global monitoring strategy
  • Set up monitoring for applications on Cloud and Containers infrastructure
  • Host demos, overviews, and training for the monitoring tools for adoption across teams, preparing related materials to support sessions and adoption of tools (presentations, operational manuals, etc.)
  • Liaise with internal teams in the planning and scheduling of deployments
  • Consult with internal teams and assist in the configuration of monitoring events/dashboards to maximize the potential and use of monitoring tools
  • Prepare reports on monitoring tools adoption and other related data points and relevant metrics
  • Participate in global discussions on the continuation and evolution of the global monitoring strategy

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree required
  • 2+ years of Development or Architecture experience for multi-tiered business applications
  • 5+ years of production systems Architecting and/or support role
  • Proven experience with supporting monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Tivoli, Splunk, Sitescope, Catchpoint
  • Familiarity with supporting monitoring on Cloud and Containers infrastructure
  • Knowledge of OS (Windows/Unix) based infrastructure services, processing, monitoring, shell scripts, etc.
  • Proven experience in programming languages (Java and/or .NET)
  • Proven experience in application/network performance and availability monitoring
  • Proven experience in N-Tier Architecture supporting a multitude of products (Webserver, Middleware, Database, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ITIL functions and processes

Desired skills:

  • Previous experience in the development and/or support of financial services applications
  • Experience in Major Incident Management
  • An excellent communicator, able to network and influence across multiple levels
  • A self-motivated, hands-on, driven individual
  • A strategic thinker who can link business context to technical reality
