Job description

Hardware Integration & Quality Assurance

  • Assemble and configure custom workstations, servers, and rackmount systems according to customer specifications.
  • Validate hardware performance using industry-standard benchmarking and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform BIOS, firmware, and system updates to ensure optimal performance, compatibility, and stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues involving motherboards, processors, memory, storage devices, network adapters, power supplies, and cabling.
  • Perform root cause analysis on hardware failures and coordinate with OEM vendors to process warranty claims and RMAs.
  • Verify system functionality through comprehensive testing before customer deployment.

Operating System Deployment

  • Install, configure, and validate operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Ubuntu.
  • Configure system drivers, utilities, and diagnostic software.
  • Execute performance and stability testing to ensure customer-ready systems.

Data Center Operations

  • Assist with the installation and organization of server racks, PDUs, storage systems, and network infrastructure.
  • Install and manage copper and fiber network cabling while maintaining clean and organized rack layouts.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workspace within the data center and hardware lab.
  • Support shipping, receiving, inventory management, and asset tracking processes.
  • Package systems securely for shipment and safely move equipment using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.
  • Lift and move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more as required.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Manage daily work assignments through the company’s ticketing and workflow management systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Follow established build procedures, project documentation, and quality standards.
  • Communicate technical issues clearly to team members and provide exceptional internal and customer support.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training to develop knowledge of emerging server, storage, networking, and data center technologies.

Requirements

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer I to join our engineering team. This hands-on, onsite role is ideal for an early-career IT professional with 1-3 years of experience who is eager to develop expertise in enterprise server, workstation, and data center technologies., * 1-3 years of experience in computer hardware assembly, systems deployment, IT support, or related technical roles.

  • Working knowledge of PC and server hardware components.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physical tasks associated with hardware installation and warehouse operations.
  • Availability to work onsite full-time.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a data center, systems integration, or hardware manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server platforms from Dell, HPE, Supermicro, Lenovo, or similar manufacturers.
  • Experience with inventory management or asset tracking systems.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for domestic or international customer projects.
