Job description
The GIS Coordination Support Specialist provides administrative, technical, and geospatial support for GIS programs and initiatives. This role assists with coordinating GIS projects, supporting committees and working groups, managing geospatial data workflows, developing GIS applications, and preparing technical documentation. The position requires strong GIS expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and implement effective GIS solutions., * Provide administrative and technical support for GIS programs, committees, and working groups.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing GIS initiatives, policies, standards, and strategies.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Project reports
- Meeting notes and summaries
- Technical updates
- Data documentation
- Workflow guides
- Application requirements
- Support the development, maintenance, and publication of geospatial datasets.
- Compile and integrate GIS data from multiple sources.
- Perform GIS data editing, validation, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
- Automate GIS workflows and data processing tasks using scripting and automation tools.
- Create and maintain web-based GIS applications, maps, dashboards, and online content.
- Configure and manage GIS solutions using ArcGIS Online tools.
- Gather user requirements and translate business needs into GIS applications and solutions.
- Research GIS technologies and recommend solutions for project implementation.
- Collaborate with GIS users, technical teams, and stakeholders to support GIS projects.
- Assist with GIS data governance, standards, documentation, and best practices.

Requirements
- Strong experience with ArcGIS Pro and GIS data management.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Online and web GIS applications.
- Knowledge of GIS concepts, spatial analysis, data formats, projections, and geospatial workflows.
- Experience creating, editing, analyzing, and publishing GIS datasets.
- Experience performing GIS data quality assurance and validation.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to create clear reports, technical documents, and project updates.
- Experience gathering requirements and developing GIS solutions based on user needs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a collaborative environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise GIS programs or GIS governance initiatives.
- Experience with public-sector, organizational, or large-scale GIS projects.
- Knowledge of GIS standards, metadata, and data governance practices.

Experience with GIS automation and scripting using:
- Python
- ArcPy

- Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web mapping APIs.
- Experience integrating and managing data from multiple sources.
- Experience designing GIS websites and user interfaces.
- Knowledge of enterprise GIS architecture and cloud-based GIS solutions.
