As a Network Engineer your work at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the SOCOM customer. In this crucial role, you will serve as a recognized authority, evaluating, designing, documenting, installing, implementing, testing, and performing problem isolation and resolution. You will also be responsible for monitoring, tuning, and setting standards. You will maintain a complex range of computer network components and systems, plan and coordinate major IT initiatives, research, evaluate, and recommend new network equipment and technologies.

Your responsibilities will include utilizing monitoring and performance analysis tools, network management software, and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity. Additionally, you will assist in developing and delivering internal training programs, meet regularly with other network team members to plan and coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues, and communicate changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, design, document, install, implement, test, perform problem isolation and resolution, monitor, tune, and set standards for network operations.

  • Maintain a complex range of computer network components and systems.

  • Utilize monitoring and performance analysis tools, network management software, and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems.

  • Gauge network performance and trace data and protocol activity.

  • Devise solutions to complex operational problems within the constraints of installed equipment.

  • Assist in developing and delivering internal training programs.

  • Meet regularly with other network team members to plan and coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues, and communicate changes.

  • Collaborate with several projects’ requirements across a vast array of equipment.

Requirements

Computer Networking,Network Engineering,Network Management,Network Operations, 5 + years of related experience, + Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Or additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of related experience

Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of all phases of network operations.

  • Proficiency in evaluating network performance and solving complex networking problems.

  • Excellent communication skills, including effective listening, tact, and follow-through.

  • Capability to provide clear written documentation on network procedures.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff from other sections on complex client/server issues.

  • Ability to offer practical and effective solutions within system and budget constraints.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong assessment skills for network evaluation criteria.

  • Adherence to network protocols and methodologies.

  • Ability to review and detect errors or recommend modifications in the work of others.

  • Must be able to lead and guide a small team, work well with others, and demonstrate the ability to change direction based on new requirements.

  • Technical proficiencies in: Cisco, Juniper, and other types of switches and routers, Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS, VMware, ASA, VPN, NAT, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, numerous test sets, Telecommunications equipment, VoIP, Cisco Call Manager, Intrusion Detection Systems, Snort, SolarWinds, Splunk.

Security Clearance Level:

  • Secret Clearance required to start must be able to obtain TS/SCI

The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
