Job description

  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading IBM MQ software and related components across various platforms like Windows, Linux, AIX, etc.
  • Object Management: Creating and managing IBM MQ objects such as queue managers, queues, channels, listeners, and name lists.
  • Security: Implementing and maintaining robust security measures, including user authentication, access controls (using tools like OAM), and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Setting up and managing high availability solutions like multi-instance queue managers or clustering for redundancy and resilience.
  • Involved in planning and testing disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitoring MQ systems for performance and availability issues, utilizing tools like MQ Explorer and implementing alerting mechanisms.
  • Analyzing performance data, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing configurations for optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnosing and resolving production issues related to MQ, collaborating with developers and other teams to ensure effective problem resolution.
  • Support and Collaboration: Providing technical support for MQ environments, participating in on-call rotations, and adhering to established incident and problem management processes.
  • Collaborating with developers and system administrators to optimize messaging environments and ensure smooth operations.
  • Documentation: Developing and maintaining documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with IBM MQ Administration
  • HS Diploma/GED, * Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Similar
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing queue managers, queues, channels, and clusters.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems like Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris, etc.
  • Strong understanding of messaging concepts and protocol
