• Develop, test, debug, and enhance PFD applications using .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC with C#, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps/Visual Studio.
• Collaborate with analysts, technicians, and fellow developers to turn user needs into secure, reliable, and user-friendly solutions.
• Support modernization projects that replace legacy applications and build new cloud-ready systems for the division.
• Work in a team-focused environment where the ideal candidate excels at problem-solving, communication, and adapting to new technologies.
• Grow your skills as you begin working with Azure Resources, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, and other cloud-native tools during the division’s ongoing transition.
• We have a strong preference for candidates who can immediately contribute using the .NET stack, relational databases, and web technologies such as React, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, CSS, and HTML.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: This position is located on the 11th floor of the State Office Building in downtown Juneau in the PFD’s largest office or in downtown Anchorage across from the Atwood Building in the LPPG. Our workspace has an open floor plan that allows natural light into all cubicles. We also offer a hybrid schedule for those that would like to remote part of the week and in the office part of the week.

• Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or experience using a computer for analysis (including experience in the use of computer reporting languages); providing software/hardware installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support to end-users; and/or direct computer programming. APPLICATION DEVELOPER 2 Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

• Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
• Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions and skill in designing, writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or experience writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, or maintaining a computer program’s source code. Special Note: A position may focus on working in one or more computer languages. Which language(s) will be specified when recruiting to fill the position. “Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation. “Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job. “Training” means the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, online, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs. “Professional experience” means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession’s principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one’s own judgment. “Progressively responsible” means indicating growth and/or advancement in complexity, difficulty, or level of responsibility., * A list of three (3) professional references (including daytime telephone numbers); one of which must be a current or former supervisor;

• A copy of any professional certifications applicable to this position; and
• Copies of transcripts if education is being used to meet minimum qualifications, For your application to be evaluated you must answer the Supplemental Questions. The State of Alaska uses four levels of proficiency to measure and describe an applicant’s level of competence in applying certain behaviors, knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish a specific task. the proficiency levels are Mastery, Fluency, Literacy, and Discovery.
