- Develop, support, and maintain the various parts of the Fish Ticket System.
- Assist fisheries’ staff in ensuring the quality of fish ticket data.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: This position is in Juneau at the ADFG Headquarters (1255 W 8Th Street, next to Overstreet Park). Day-to-day, you will primarily be working on individual projects or collaborating with the small team of developers working on the Fish Ticket and connected systems. Most user support will be in the form of email correspondence, instant messaging and voice/video calls as fisheries staff are located statewide. A hybrid telework schedule may be an option after initial training. Who We Are Looking For: We are looking for a candidate with experience in the following areas:
- Software Development: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for designing, developing, and testing software in a given environment.
- Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services; is committed to continuous improvement.
- Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.
- Continuous Learning: Assesses and recognizes own strengths and weaknesses; pursues self- development.
Requirements
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Continual Learning: Assesses and recognizes own strengths and weaknesses; pursues self-development.
Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or experience using a computer for analysis (including experience in the use of computer reporting languages); providing software/hardware installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and support to end-users; and/or direct computer programming. Special Note: A position may focus on working in one or more computer languages. - Computer Languages: Knowledge of computer languages and their applications to enable a system to perform specific functions and skill in designing, writing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining the source code of computer programs.
- Customer/Quality Focus: Anticipates, monitors, and meets the needs of customers and responds to them in an effective, appropriate manner. Demonstrates commitment to identifying customers’ apparent and underlying needs and continually seeks to provide the highest quality service and product to all customers.
Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training in computer programming or system analysis and/or progressively responsible professional experience developing, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining computer applications. Special Note: A position may focus on working in one or more computer languages. Which language(s) will be specified when recruiting to fill the position. “Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation. “Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job. “Training” means the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. If utilizing this education you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university.
