Job description

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer / Cyber Systems Engineer to support mission-critical initiatives within Army tactical network modernization efforts. This role will provide engineering expertise in support of prototype development, laboratory-based risk reduction, systems integration, cybersecurity compliance, and tactical communications modernization initiatives supporting government customers at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

The ideal candidate brings experience supporting complex DoW environments involving tactical networks, DevSecOps pipelines, secure enclaves, infrastructure modernization, and cybersecurity frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level systems engineering support for tactical communications, networking, cybersecurity, and prototype integration efforts.
  • Design, build, configure, and maintain representative lab environments to support system development, testing, integration, and Laboratory-Based Risk Reduction (LBRR) activities.
  • Support prototype development efforts related to Army tactical modernization initiatives, including command and control systems, network modernization, and emerging battlefield technologies.
  • Develop system baselines that replicate operational environments for engineering validation, testing, and risk reduction activities.
  • Support integration efforts involving:
  • Tactical communications systems
  • SATCOM architectures
  • Secure network enclaves
  • Cross-domain solutions
  • Cloud-hosted environments
  • Kubernetes/containerized environments
  • Virtualized infrastructure
  • Support DevSecOps efforts by working within secure development environments and integrating software builds, containers, and application updates into lab environments.
  • Develop test plans, test procedures, and technical evaluation criteria to support system validation efforts.

  • Perform technical analysis to identify interoperability challenges, scalability concerns, and system performance risks.
  • Support network engineering efforts involving routing, switching, VPNs, secure communications, and enterprise/tactical infrastructure.
  • Assist cybersecurity teams with system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and implementation of secure configurations.
  • Support RMF documentation and cybersecurity compliance activities including:
  • System Security Plans (SSPs)
  • POA&Ms
  • STIG implementation
  • SCAP scans
  • Nessus vulnerability assessments
  • NIST 800-53 compliance efforts
  • Support Zero Trust initiatives and modernization efforts across government environments.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical briefings, demonstrations, and operational planning efforts.
  • Support field events, technical demonstrations, and operational test activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Telecommunication?, * Strong experience in systems engineering within DoD environments

  • Experience supporting tactical network modernization initiatives
  • Experience building and maintaining lab environments for engineering, integration, and testing
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware
  • Experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with network architecture, routing, switching, and secure communications systems
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance frameworks such as RMF, NIST 800-53, and NIST 800-171
  • Experience performing vulnerability assessments using tools such as Nessus, SCAP, and STIG Viewer
  • Experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to brief both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DEVCOM C5ISR, PM Tactical Network, or similar Army organizations
  • Experience supporting NGC2, tactical prototype environments, or modernization initiatives
  • Experience working in laboratory-based risk reduction environments
  • Experience supporting secure enclaves such as SIPR/NIPR environments
  • Experience with DevSecOps environments such as Bespin
  • Experience with Zero Trust implementation initiatives
  • Military communications or COMSEC experience
  • Experience with Crypto Modernization initiatives.

Clearance:

  • Active DoW Secret clearance.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field

OR

  • Equivalent military experience and/or additional years of directly related technical experience
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, network engineering, cybersecurity engineering, or related DoD technical environments
