Job description

The Senior/Lead Software Developer will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing AFMIS software applications and supporting infrastructure. This role requires expertise in enterprise application development, backend database technologies, Agile methodologies, and system integration within a Windows-based N-Tier environment. The selected candidate must be capable of working independently or leading technical teams in support of mission-critical Army systems., * Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software solutions supporting AFMIS operations and engineering applications.

  • Provide technical leadership and software support for all AFMIS components, including system configuration and hardware integration.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise applications using VB.NET, Web Services, and SQL Server 2012 backend technologies.
  • Support and maintain N-Tier application architectures within Windows environments.
  • Analyze user and stakeholder requirements to develop effective software and interface solutions.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain AFMIS software environments, including system logs, event logs, and operational performance metrics.
  • Test and validate operating systems, networking software, databases, and computer hardware to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot software, database, networking, and system integration issues to maintain operational continuity.
  • Design, support, and maintain network structures and interfaces associated with AFMIS operations.
  • Develop and maintain XML-based data exchanges and integrations.
  • Support and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) configurations and security compliance requirements.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration efforts.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies, including Agile Lean practices, to enhance system performance and development efficiency.
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers, developers, and government stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable software solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Army standards, cybersecurity requirements, and software engineering best practices.

Requirements

Do you have experience in System testing?, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering, or related technical discipline.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in software development and engineering support.
  • Minimum of five (5) years combined experience with:
  • Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with system testing, software configuration management, and network design/support.
  • Experience leading technical efforts and working independently in dynamic operational environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Required Certifications and Special Requirements

  • IAT Level II Certification Required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required government security standards and background investigation eligibility.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile Lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or Army enterprise systems.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical logistics or food management systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance requirements in government environments.
