Job description

The (USA) Staff, Systems and Infrastructure Engineer, Information Security, is responsible for designing and maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure solutions aligned with business and security requirements. This role involves analyzing system performance, developing automation to enhance operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with security standards and frameworks. The engineer will collaborate across teams to address risk management, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. A strong focus on system security, disaster recovery, and configuration management is essential to uphold the integrity and reliability of critical technology environments.

About the team:

The team specializes in securing complex enterprise environments by designing and implementing advanced IoT and OT security solutions. It manages a wide range of devices including sensors, cameras, robots, and industrial automation platforms while ensuring compliance with security standards. Focused on collaboration, the team develops scalable, secure infrastructure aligned with business objectives. Members apply expertise in security controls, network management, and software development to protect critical systems and maintain operational resilience across Walmart’s technology landscape. The group provides expert guidance to stakeholders, driving innovation and strong defense strategies to safeguard essential operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop scalable, secure infrastructure solutions aligned with business and security requirements.
  • Analyze system performance and nonfunctional requirements to ensure reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Automate operational processes to enhance response times and reduce manual interventions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of deployment processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Leverage Development Skillset to further inhouse solutions development, testing, and production pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security controls and infrastructure improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in infrastructure design, including software architecture, distributed systems, and scalability principles.
  • Strong knowledge of security standards, frameworks, and methodologies such as Risk Management Framework and System Security Plans.
  • Experience with automation tools, scripting and development languages (Python, Go, etc), and DevOps practices to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency in configuration and release management within complex IT environments.
  • Ability to analyze system performance for reliability, operability, efficiency, and security.
  • Skilled in capacity management and infrastructure growth planning aligned with business needs.
  • Familiarity with cyber security, infrastructure security, and risk analysis techniques., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 4years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Option 2: 6 years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area and 2 years’ experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
